POCAHONTAS, AR Aug. 13 â€“ Black River Technical Collegeis now offering courses through its recently established University Center. BRTC has partnerships with three 4-year institutions to offer courses on the BRTC campus.

During the fall semester, BRTC will offer The Social Dimensions of Disaster online through Arkansas Tech University. This course is required for ATU’s Bachelor of Science in Emergency Administration Management. Leadership and Communications will be offered in-person through Southern Arkansas University. Leadership and Communications is required to complete SAU’s Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Business.

BRTC plans to continue to expand its University Center course offerings. Donna Statler, Dean of General Studies, stated, “BRTC is now working towards offering the courses required to complete Arkansas Tech University’s Bachelor of Science in Education.” She added that, in addition to ATU and SAU, BRTC will be teaming up with Arkansas State University in the near future to offer courses required to complete the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Supervision.

Black River Technical College is a 2-year community college in Pocahontas and Paragould which offers associates degrees and certificates in general education and technical and career education.  The College houses one of the state’s law enforcement training academies and fire science academies.  BRTC has 2,500 full- and part-time students.
