COVID-19 vaccination efforts in the United States reached a milestone this week with more than 50% of American adults now fully vaccinated against the disease. As of today (May 27), 50.6% of the U.S. adult population and 40% of the total U.S. population has been fully vaccinated, according to the CDC. In Arkansas, however, the CDC reported today that 30.7% of the total population has been fully vaccinated, one of the lowest rates in the nation.

Hoping to boost the state’s numbers, Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced Tuesday an incentive program: Any Arkansan vaccinated after Tuesday will be eligible to choose as a gift either a $20 scratch-off lottery ticket or a gift certificate from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, redeemable for an Arkansas hunting license and fishing license.
