Shortly after 9pm on Tuesday night, Lawrence County Dispatch was notified of a high speed pursuit on Hwy 67 from Pocahontas toward Lawrence County.

According to reports a stolen Honda Civic out of Jonesboro was spotted at the Jordan’s in Pocahontas by officers. The driver of the vehicle was said to be asleep when officers approached awoke and put the vehicle in reverse crashing into a patrol car before fleeing the scene. Shots were fired at the vehicle according to reports.

Pocahontas and Randolph county officers pursued the vehicle on Hwy 67 toward Lawrence County.

Deputies from Lawrence County along with Walnut Ridge Police staged along Hwy 67 near the county line with spike strips to intercept the pursuit. Officers used the PIT maneuver to wreck out the vehicle near the county line.

The suspect who has not been identified at this time was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for unspecified injuries as a result of the incident. No officers were injured.
