Shortly before 5 pm on Thursday , Walnut Ridge Police attempted to stop a silver Nissan passenger car on Hwy 63 that was traveling north at a high rate of speed. The vehicle fled from the officer toward Portia at over 100 mph according to reports.

As the vehicle approached the Black River bridge the driver swerved into oncoming traffic and attempted to hit a Black Rock patrol vehicle at speeds of 120 miles per hour. As the vehicle continued toward Imboden it continued to drive reckless, forcing vehicles off the roadway and driving into oncoming traffic. Both Walnut Ridge and Black Rock units terminated the pursuit in the interest of public safety.

Sharp County officials were notified of the pursuit, Hardy units set up to intercept the vehicle which continued through Ravenden and into Sharp County driving reckless.

Sharp County was able to get the suspect vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Altima stopped north of Hardy. The driver identified as 20 year old Kristian Banks of Olive Branch Mississippi was arrested and charged with Fleeing, Reckless Driving, Driving Left Of Center, Speeding and Improper Passing. Banks also has a hold for additional charges out of Lawrence County.

Kristian Banks was booked into the Sharp County Detention Center.
