Governor Hutchinson Discussed White House Warning To Arkansas On Tuesday

In his weekly address concerning the Covid pandemic in Arkansas, Governor Hutchinson said the White House has acknowledged the rapid increase of Covid cases in the state of Arkansas. The director of the ADH, Dr. Jose Romero stated that Arkansas is on the verge of “an uncontrollable rise in cases”.

Tuesday the governor announced an additional 1554 new cases and 20 new deaths bringing the death toll in the state to 2,245.

Hospitalizations increased by 34 to 895 currently being treated in facilities for COVID-19.

There are currently 16,576 active cases, an increase of 91. Over 10,000 test were performed over the last 24 hours according to the state.

Craighead County was again in the state’s top 5 for new cases. Sebastian, Pulaski, Benton, Craighead, Faulkner and Saline all reported more than 50 new cases in the past 24 hours according to Dr. Romero.

Crittenden: 246 active cases, 2,630 recoveries, 55 deaths

Cross: 72 active cases, 610 recoveries, 24 deaths

Greene: 418 active cases, 1,833 recoveries, 26 deaths

Jackson: 301 active cases, 980 recoveries, 6 deaths

Lawrence: 97 active cases, 910 recoveries, 27 deaths

Mississippi: 297 active cases, 2,494 recoveries, 77 deaths

Poinsett: 211 active cases, 1,247 recoveries, 37 deaths

Randolph: 126 active cases, 707 recoveries, 28 deaths

Sharp: 134 active cases, 408 recoveries, 13 deaths

To protect yourself and others, the ADH recommends:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.
  • Practice physical distancing. Avoid close contact with others, especially those who are sick, by keeping at least 6 feet between you and others.
  • If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 or develop a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, seek testing. Testing is available in many locations, including ADH Local Health Units.
  • Wear a face covering when you are exposed to non-household members and physical distancing cannot be assured.
