Olivia Deroeck, age 26 of Jonesboro, has been held since March in the Craighead County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.

Deroeck admitted that she conspired to sell her 4-year-old family member. Court records state the money was to be used for a drug habit.

The prosecutor alleged that Deroeck and a co-conspirator identified as Tyler Sowell, 26, of Brookland, trafficked the minor beginning in November of 2019.

The probable cause affidavit stated the investigation found that Olivia Deroeck was in contact with Sowell who was making sales and setting up timing with a minor.

Prosecutors entered a negotiated plea, Deroeck will serve 15 years in state prison for conspiracy to traffic a minor – a Class A felony. She will be credited the 208 days spent in jail leading up to her trial. She also received an additional suspended sentence of five years and must register as a sex offender.

The co-defendant Sowell is set to stand trial for his trafficking charge later this month. He is being held in the Craighead County jail on a $1 million bond.
