November 18, 1941 – August 19, 2020

Bobby Ray Smith, 78, of Black Rock passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro.  He was born November 18, 1941 to William Sherman and Sarah Eleen Fuller Smith in Norwood, Missouri.  He was a truck driver and a volunteer firefighter for the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years. Bobby was of the Christian belief.   He served in the United States Airforce for eight years during the Vietnam War. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kenneth Alan Smith; brother, Donnie Lee Smith; infant sister, Francis; and great-granddaughter, Jasmine Paige Pope. 

Bobby is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vesta Smith of the home; children, Connie Sue Smith Pope of Florida, Terry Scott Smith (Jennifer) of Jonesboro, William Sherman “Bobby” Smith (Melanie) of Nebraska, and Mark Steven Smith of Conway; sister, Ann Clark of Illinois; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at New Life Full Gospel Church in Black Rock with the funeral following immediately at 1 p.m.  Chad Burton will officiate.  Burial will take place at a later date.  All arrangements are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Department.
