Roscoe Allen Spencer, 75, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Roscoe was born January 19, 1945 to Oda and Mary Spencer in Lakeland, Missouri. 

Roscoe spent most of his childhood in Colorado, graduating from Rocky Ford Hight School and receiving draftsman credentials from La Juana Community College in La Juana, CO. 

Roscoe served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft fuel system specialist with duty in Hawaii serving the airplanes coming out of Vietnam. He held this position for two of his four-year tour of duty. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and was honorably discharged in March of 1970. Roscoe was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Metal, Air Force Good Conduct Metal, and the National Defense Service Metal. During his time in service, he married the love of his life, Billie Ann Dail. This union resulted in the birth of a son, Rodney Allen.  

After serving our country in the Air Force, Roscoe and his family moved to Jonesboro where he was employed as a mechanical engineer for 35 years at Hytrol. He enjoyed traveling. His favorite place was the Rocky Mountains. They also enjoyed square dancing.  

Upon retirement, Roscoe moved to Ravenden to enjoy the quiet life of a rural area. He enjoyed driving his “Mule”, Mule trail rides, visiting with friends at the Ravenden Café and the life with his Yorkie, Lucky. Roscoe was of the Baptist faith and attended the Ravenden Baptist Church regularly.  

Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and son; brother, Jerry; sister, Zelda; nieces, Brook Busby and Lanita Spencer; and Jeff Spencer.  

He is survived by his in-laws who became family, Jack (Wanda) Dail and Butch (Doris) Dail of Ravenden, Janice Dail Mead of Julesburg, CO, Betty (Buz) Busby of Pocahontas, Ted (Cheryl) Dail of Black Rock; and sister-in-law, Luella Spencer of California. He was also loved by many nieces and nephews. 

All services will be held at the Ravenden Baptist Church on Thursday, July 2, 2020. Visitation will be 1:00 -2:00 P.M. followed by a service at 2:00 P.M with Brother Baron Wildmon officiating. Burial will follow at the Dail Cemetery.  

Pallbearers will be Ryan Mathes, Corey Dail, Landon Gilbreath, Colton Dail, Nicholas Dail, Anthony Dail, and Aiden Walton.  

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Clardy, Boyce Bonham, Ronnie Dulgar, Dennis Lambert, Mike Ross, Larry King, and Dr. Lee Koon. 

All arrangements are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
