Today Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. announced he will execute an executive order requiring masks be worn in public in the city of Little Rock. Mayor Scott is expected to sign the order by the beginning of next week in an effort to slow the spread of COVID.

Little Rock joins other large cities within areas of rising COVID outbreaks such as Memphis, Tennessee and Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Governor Hutchinson expressed concern about such orders being placed by mayors saying “we don’t need 50 executive orders” when ask by reporters during his daily update. The Governor instead ask that cities follow the state guidelines. Governor Hutchinson also stated he has no intention of having a statewide order for wearing mask in public when ask about it.
