William “Bill” Bernard “T-Wood” Thistlewood, 85, of Imboden passed away Friday, March 27, 2020 at Randolph Home. 

Bill was born June 23, 1934 in Cairo, IL to the late Arthur and Halley Nelon) Thistlewood Jr. He worked in the family business, “Thistlewood Dairy”, and graduated from Cairo High School. 

He served in the Air Force for 5 years at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and then as a flight instructor at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, CO. After his military service Bill returned to his hometown where he started a television repair business before purchasing the Cairo Skating Rink. He later added a ten lane bowling alley onto the rink which became known as “T-Wood’s Roller Bowl.” After moving to Pocahontas, Bill opened T-Wood’s Bowling Center which he operated for many years until his health began to fail. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Genevieve Thistlewood; and brother, Arthur Thistlewood III. 

He is survived by two sons, Bill (Phyllis) Thistlewood Jr and Larry (Dorothy) Thistlewood both of Paducah, KY; two stepdaughters, Beverly (Joe) Jessen of Imboden and Carla (Dennis) Schaechtel of Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Kaelin (Brittney) Thistlewood of Maxwell Air Force Base in Florida, Tia (Bryan) Wheatley of Los Angeles, CA, Cody (Becca) Simpson, Colten Simpson, and Gennifer (DJ) Newell all of Pocahontas; six great grandchildren, Brayden Thistlewood, Aniyah Simpson, Arian (Kai) Newell, Abram Newell, Maddox Simpson, and Alivia Simpson, and many other relatives and friends. 

Graveside service will be Sunday, March 29, 2020 at 2 PM at Hope Cemetery with Jeff Hamm officiating under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
