Nineteen year old, Raine Everett of Walnut Ridge has been charged in Craighead County after District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Everett with 1st degree battery and knowingly causing serious injury to a person under five years of age.

The sheriff’s office received information Monday from the Arkansas State Police crimes against children division. During interviews conducted on Tuesday , the five week old baby’s father allegedly told investigators that he saw Everett shake the baby until he went limp. The original incident took place on January 22nd when Bono first responders and Emerson ambulance responded to the 4100 block of Craighead Road 117 for a call of a baby not breathing. After being treated on scene the baby was taken to St. Bernard’s then transferred to Le Bonheur’s Children Hospital for further treatment. The affidavit states that medical personnel treated the child for bruises on the baby’s back and fractured bones on his lower body.

Craighead County officials stated the findings were suspicious for non accidental trauma and included what appeared to be abusive head trauma. The baby was taken into protective custody by the Arkansas Department of Human Services along with another daughter belonging to the suspect. A no contact order was issued between Everett and her children. She was issued $100,000 bond and according to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office she was released on bond Wednesday afternoon.
