At 3:34 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a multi vehicle accident on Hwy 63 near Sedgwick with injuries.
 
Sedgwick Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Fire and ambulances from AET, Medic One were all dispatched to the scene. Walnut Ridge Police also responded to assist. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene as well. 
 
Walnut Ridge Fire was on scene within minutes and reported on victim trapped and one victim ejected in the three vehicle pile up. Crews from the WR Fire Department freed the trapped victim while medics assisted the ejected victim.
 
Traffic was being diverted and held by Lawrence County Deputies when a second accident happened near the original crash, one person was complaining of back pain in that accident and an additional ambulance from Pro-Med was sent to that scene. Originally medical helicopters were requested but later cancelled as the injured were taken to Jonesboro area hospitals via ambulance.
 
At 4:07pm Walnut Ridge Fire Chief reported all victims had been extricated from the vehicles. Walnut Ridge Fire units were back in service at 4:24pm.
 
The accident is being investigated by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. At this time units are still on scene but traffic is beginning to flow.
 
Names and extent of injuries have not been released.
