Early Wednesday morning Lawrence County dispatch received multiple calls reporting several vehicles broken into and mail removed from mailboxes and discarded on the ground.
Deputies responded to the area of Lawrence 270. They took reports from three residents on Lawrence 270 along with another report of a vehicle broken into on Hwy 25. Also in the same area several social media reports from residents have surfaced claiming the same types of crimes have occurred over the past few days.
We spoke with Sgt. Jamie White of the Lawrence County criminal investigation division. Sgt. White confirmed that an investigation is being conducted into the incidents and a person of interest may have surfaced.  Sgt. White stated as more information becomes available the sheriff’s office will send out a press release.
The sheriff’s office advises residents to keep their vehicles locked and report any suspicious activity.  The crimes seem to be taking place during the overnight hours.  If you have any information contact the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at 886-2525.
