At approximately  5:00 am on Friday September 8, the Hoxie Fire Department responded to a medical alarm of unknown origin at a residence on Southwest Case.
A Hoxie Police officer was first on scene to assist on the call  and noticed smoke coming from the residence. Fire crews quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.
One deceased victim was found inside the structure.
No names are being released at this time and the cause of the fire is still unknown. The investigation is still ongoing.
