On July 7, 2017 deputies responded to a wreck south of Portia on County Road 511. A 911 call had been placed by a passerby who stated that the occupants appeared intoxicated and it looked as if a fight were about to take place. Upon arrival deputies found Robert Bennett 34yo white male and Jackie Odell 35yo white female both highly intoxicated.
Both subject became combative with deputies and had to be restrained. Both parties resisted arrest and fought officers resulting in a deputy being kicked in the groin. During transport Bennett remained combative and did a large amount of damage to the inside of a patrol unit.
Robert Bennet was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree and several traffic violations. Jackie Odell was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Battery 2nd Degree.
