Hands on History-Letter Writing Edition, April 22nd, 2017

Step back in time and visit Davidsonville Historic State Park for a learning experience you can get your hands on. Come visit the site of the first post office in the territory and meet Postmaster (and Park Interpreter Geoffrey). The postmaster will give you all the knowhow and supplies needed to write with a quill pen and ink, and send you on your way with a letter ready to deliver to friends, family, or anyone else you choose.

Hands on History-Rope Making Edition, April 23rd, 2017
1:00p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Step back in time and visit Davidsonville Historic State Park for a learning experience you can get your hands on. Stop by the visitor center and learn all about the process of rope making from Park Interpreter Geoffrey and try the process yourself. Learn how homemade was more common than store bought, and take a piece of rope home as a collector’s item.

Wilderness Explorers Hike, April 29th, 2017
1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Like adventure? Then come to the park and get lost with Park Interpreter Geoffrey while exploring Davidsonville’s wilder side. This hike will take participants off trail and into the woods to gain a better understanding of how the Black River influences the world around it. Dress for the weather and wear good shoes.

Mother’s Day Weekend Dutch Oven Brunch
10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
$13.00 per person
Skip the restaurant and treat your mom and the rest of the family to a unique Mother’s Day Meal by taking her to a cast iron dutch oven breakfast. Participants will learn how to use and care for Dutch ovens and help cook delicious breakfast foods. The workshop is suitable for all levels of skill whether you are a beginner or have been cooking with dutch ovens for years. Must be 8 years or older. Space is limited and early registration is required. Contact the park to register.
