Today in Little Rock Lawrence County Deputy Justin Dixon was honored as the Lawrence County Officer Of The Year by Attorney General Leslie Rutledge.

Officer Dixon was on patrol when he heard radio traffic reporting a shop building on Vine Street in Walnut Ridge with smoke coming from the building. Officer Dixon was in the area and responded, once on scene he heard noises coming from the building.

Officer Dixon forced open an entry door and found an unresponsive male that was overcome with smoke inhalation. Officer Dixon then opened the overhead door venting the room and then pulled the injured man from the building to safety.

The male subject was attended to by medical personnel and the fire department took care of the fire. Officer Dixon returned to duty once fire and medical arrived on scene.

On a personal note, if you have the pleasure of knowing Officer Dixon he is not one to draw attention to himself. Officer Dixon is a veteran officer in Lawrence County and very accomplished including several training certificates above the requirements for a deputy sheriff. Officer Dixon is also a founding member of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Dive Team.

Congratulations Officer Justin Dixon for receiving the Attorney General’s 2016 Lawrence County Officer Of The Year Award.
