At 6:15 pm on Monday night the Lawrence County Dispatch received a request from Sharp County for the Ravenden Fire Department to respond to Hwy 63 and Martin Creek in Sharp County. Early reports stated a one vehicle accident had occurred and the vehicle was on fire and two individuals were trapped inside, Sharp County asked for Ravenden to bring all their tools and equipment.

Ravenden responded with it’s Engine 1 and several firefighters, Imboden Volunteer Fire Department hearing the request for equipment and manpower also responded with it Rescue 3, Rescue 4 and several firefighters.

AET Ambulance of Imboden also responded in the event extra medical was needed on scene. Fire departments, medical and police from Sharp County also responded to the accident.

At 6:31 pm Ravenden was on scene and Imboden checked on scene at 6:35 pm.

The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, 4 persons in the vehicle were injured with three airlifted to an area hospital. Imboden was back in service at 7:04 pm. Ravenden remained on scene to assist with traffic.

Chief Jim Jones said the original call to 911 stated the vehicle was on fire and victims were still trapped inside, according to the Chief there was no fire only steam from fluids in the accident and no entrapment when units arrived. Chief Jones said of the four injured  three were flown from the scene by medical helicopter and one was taken by ambulance.

The accident is being investigated by the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police.
