On Monday evening a public meeting was held for residents of the former Egypt Fire District located in Lawrence County to voice any concerns or objections to the former Lawrence County portion of the Egypt Fire District to be reassigned to Hoxie and the stop collecting the service fee being paid to the Egypt Fire Protection District. The public meeting was followed by the regular Quorum Court meeting, after no objections to the resolution were voiced members voted on the resolution. The resolution was read by County Clerk Tina Stowers and all members voted in favor of the reassignment.
The former portion of the district was voted to be assigned to the Hoxie Fire Department and the service fee attached to the residents property taxes was removed. In attendance of the meeting was Hoxie Fire Chief Chris Ditto and representatives of the Lawrence County Office of Emergency Services.
This concludes the actions needed to reassign the inactive district located within Lawrence County to the Hoxie Fire Department.
