At 2:42 am on Saturday Morning December 12th, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a structure fire at the intersection of West 2nd Street and Hwy 62. Imboden Volunteer Fire Department was requested to the scene. Firefighters from Imboden responded with the Rescue 4 truck and Engine 2 to the scene. Firefighters approaching noticed the fire was through the roof and immediately requested the assistance of Ravenden who responded with an engine and manpower.

The residence located at 201 West Second had been vacant for years with out electricity or gas making the fire suspicious according to Fire Chief Jim Jones of the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department. Although the structure was fully involved, firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.

Deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s office were on scene to assist with traffic control. Also a medical unit was posted on the scene for safety reasons. Fire Chief Jones advised the Lawrence County Dispatch that the residence was vacant at the time of the fire.

At 3:55 am, Chief Jones advised that Entergy was on scene to remove the power lines attached to the residence and stated the fire was under control with firemen working on putting out hot spots.

Ravenden Fire was clear from the scene at 4:11 am, Imboden remained on scene making sure the blaze was completely out.
