Hoxie Police Assist With Relocating Animals Abandoned In Rental House
Shortly after 11 am the owner of a rental house located 207 Texas Street Hoxie contacted the Lawrence County Dispatch and reported that the previous renters of the property had moved out and abandoned several different animals including dogs, cats, guinea pigs and ferrets. He advised there was no food or water for the animals and no clue how long they had been there without care.
Hoxie Police responded to the scene and advised there was no water or electric at the home. Officers did a quick investigation and advised they had locate the owners and that they agreed to surrender the animals.
Shortly before 1 pm, officers advised that the Humane Society had taken possession of the animals. No word on any possible criminal charges in the incident.
