At 2:15 pm the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge Fire Departments were paged to a vehicle vs. train accident just south of Sedgwick. According to reports a passenger vehicle pulled into the path of a train at Craighead Road 341. Bono Fire Department arrived on scene and cancelled all other units in route but Hoxie being in the area proceeded to assist.
Unconfirmed reports stated that a female was killed when her vehicle was struck by the train, the crossing is not equipped with crossing arms according to reports. The Craighead County Sheriff’s Department was investigating the accident. The victims name has not been released pending notification of family.
Traffic on Hwy 63 was slowed but has since resumed, investigators are still on scene at this time.
