According to the Lawrence County Criminal Investigation Division, on July 18, 2015 a Lawrence County Deputy stopped a vehicle on Highway 412 West for an equipment violation. The Deputy noted a strong smell of marijuana inside the vehicle after approaching it and speaking with the driver. A check of the occupants showed a passenger, Thomas Tarver 28 of Brookland, as being an active parolee out of Craighead County. After interviewing the occupants the deputy learned that Tarver was in possession of illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia and a large amount of cash. Tarver was placed under arrest and taken to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to await a bond hearing.

Tarver was charged with Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia and taken to the Lawrence County Jail. Tarver has previous convictions including several Possession Of A Controlled Substance charges and fleeing.
