Dustin Michael Gibson of Walnut Ridge sits in the Lawrence County Jail tonight awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Gibson was sentenced to a negotiated plea of 96 months in prison and 180 months suspended imposition of sentence in the November 2014 death of his infant child.

In November Walnut Ridge Police Investigators announced that Dustin Gibson, 28 of Walnut Ridge had been charged with 1st Degree Endangering The Welfare Of A Minor. Gibson was arrested on November 26th after his infant daughter was found unresponsive in his home. Joslyn Gibson’s body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine cause of death.
Gibson had a court date of January 21st and $25,000 cash bond. The investigation is being conducted by the Walnut Ridge Police Department, Arkansas State Police, Dept. of Children and Family Services.

Gibson had an extensive criminal record dating back to 2005 with charges ranging from Criminal Mischief to Commercial Burglary and even a charge of Manslaughter dating from 2013. Gibson had been on probation several times and had his parole/probation revoked on more than on occasion.

On Friday Gibson received his official sentence in the negotiated plea and is currently awaiting transport to the Arkansas Dept of Corrections.
