At 3:48 pm the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a head on crash at Hwy 34 and Hwy 412 (Main Street) with multiple injuries.

The Walnut Ridge Fire Department, Walnut Ridge Police Department, AET Ambulance, Medic One Ambulance and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the scene. Initial reports from the scene reported several with severe injuries, three helicopters were requested initially to respond to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with a forth helicopter placed on standby. Walnut Ridge Fire Department assisted with the injured at the scene and also had units on standby at the hospital for the arrival of the helicopters. AET Ambulance responded to the scene with units from the Walnut Ridge base and the Imboden base. Lawrence Memorial received two patients by ambulance at 4:06 pm while another patient was transported to St. Bernard’s Medical Center by ambulance at 4:09 pm. At 4:12 pm another ambulance left the scene, this unit was also in route to St. Bernard’s Medical Center.

Members of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and began marking where the vehicles came to rest and assisting with the accident investigation. The accident is currently still under investigation by the Walnut Ridge Police Department, the identities of the injured and conditions has not been released at this time.
