On Thursday, a deputy from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a concerned citizen about possible illegal drug sales. The deputy was told that prescription drugs were being sold so the officer began to watch the residence and noticed several vehicles entering and leaving in a short period of time. The deputy also stated that the visitors to the residence entered through the front door and exited out the back. The suspect identified as Donnie Taylor of West Elm Street in Walnut Ridge showed to be on active probation, the LCSO deputy then notified probation/parole officers who then agreed to do a home visit to the suspect.

As officers arrived at the home, they were first greeted by Sherry Butts. Butts hesitated to open the door but after orders from the officers did so. Butts was asked why she hesitated and she replied “she was hiding her drugs”. Butts then showed officers where she had a baggie of Meth Ice as well as a glass pipe and other paraphernalia. Butts was placed under arrest at that time and taken into the living room of the residence.

Officers then questioned Donnie Taylor concerning the alleged prescription sales, Taylor had a prescription of 100 Hydrocodone filled 3 days earlier with only 13 remaining. A witness stated Taylor was selling the pills and using them as currency to repay debts.

In another room of the house, Cody Taylor as found acting suspicious. Cody Taylor was found to be out on Felony Bond at the time. A search of the room and area he was in turned up a handgun under the mattress where Donnie Taylor had been earlier as officer arrived.

Donnie Taylor was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and delivery of a controlled substance, schedule 2. Cody Taylor was arrested and charged with violating conditions of bond and failing a urine test for marijuana, Butts was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia with purpose of use. All three were transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await bond hearings and court dates.
