Shorty after 3:30 pm on Saturday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call stating that a bridge construction worker fell into a hole being dug for a pylon at the site of the new Black River Bridge across from Kum N Go.

AET Ambulance, Black Rock Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies and Arkansas State Police responded to the scene. Black Rock Fire used a stokes basket to lift the injured male out of the hole as a medical helicopter was called to the scene. Initial reports concerning the injured worker stated he was alert and talking but heard a “pop” in his chest. AET Ambulance stabilized the victim until the medical helicopter landed at Renee’s Restaurant on Hwy 63.

The landing zone was secured by LCSO, ASP and Black Rock Fire Fighters. The identity of the injured has not been released.
