On May 10, 2014 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mitchell Nicholas , age 35 of Alicia on charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest came after a deputy was patrolling the Alicia area and noticed a vehicle and a fire in the edge of some woods. The deputy went to check on the fire and discovered it to be a campfire.

The deputy spoke with Nicholas who was there. The deputy ran a check on Nicholas and found he was on parole. The deputy asked Nicholas if he had any illegal substances and Nicholas told the deputy he could look.

The deputy proceeded to find two loaded syringes. A field test of the substance showed positive for meth.

Nicholas was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing. At the jail the deputy contacted the parole officer and informed him of the situation. The parole officer asked that Nicholas be drug tested. Nicholas tested positive for meth. The parole officer placed a parole hold on Nicholas as well.
