Reports show that David Eck (originally from Georgia but living in the Portia area) was fired from the construction site of the Black Rock Bridge on Wednesday. Eck was escorted of the property by supervisors on the project. Workers returned Thursday to discover that logs and manuals required to be in the cranes were missing. Not only were the manuals valued at $1500.00 but due to work site laws, construction had to be halted on the bridge until the proper logs and manuals were replaced.

Deputies were called and took a report and tracked down the suspect, after the suspect was advised of his rights he confessed to deputies that he had returned to the site and took the manuals and logs in question. David Eck was arrested and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing, during the hearing, bond was set at $10,000 and an April 11th court date was set. David Eck was also discovered to have a lengthy criminal history including 4 active Failure To Appear Warrants. The manuals and logs were recovered by the Lawrence County Deputy.
