According to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, two Sedgwick residents have been charged with killing Silva Joe Fry of 79 Pyramid Street in Egypt. Sheriff’s investigators are saying the motive for the killing was robbery. David Nathaniel Ferguson and Elizabeth Agnes McKnatt were both charged with 1st Degree Murder.

Affidavits state that McKnatt had blood on her hands, statements also say that Ferguson stated he had went to the victims home to do laundry when McKnatt told Ferguson “she everything ready to kill” the victim and ask for Ferguson to join, giving him 20 minutes to “make his mind up”. Ferguson also to investigators he went to the vehicle parked outside with a minor child (5 years old) before returning to the house, investigators also believe the child may have witnessed part of the crime. The child belonged to a female acquaintance who was in jail on unrelated charges.

Court documents also state that Ferguson used the victims phone to attempt to contact 911 and request an ambulance. allegedly McKnatt knocked the phone out of Ferguson’s hand. Ferguson also admitted to investigators that he had the knife used in the crime.

Ferguson and McKnatt both have criminal histories, David Ferguson was charged in October by Lawrence County Deputies for 3rd Degree Domestic Battery, Elizabeth McKnatt had previously been charged in Tennessee for possession of Anhydrous Ammonia, a chemical used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Officers responding to the stabbing made contact with the suspects vehicle, a white Suburban on Hwy 230 outside Bono. The couple was taken into custody, the minor child was also in the vehicle with them. Both McKnatt and Ferguson are in the Craighead County Detention Center.
