January 07, 2014 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Allen Wayne Batson ,age 63 ,who was residing in Strawberry on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, possession of controlled substance (meth & marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The arrest comes after deputies learned that Batson was staying at a residence at Strawberry and had not registered. The information was presented to a judge and a warrant was issued. Deputies went to the residence and arrested Batson. A check of the residence turned up two firearms, meth, marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.
Batson was transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
