SONYA CANTRELL

On December 16, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sonya Cantrell, age 33, of Weiner on charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal impersonation, and driving on suspended driver’s license.

The arrest come after a deputy stopped the vehicle Cantrell was driving on County Road 749 for a traffic violation. The deputy spoke with Cantrell and asked her for her driver’s license. Cantrell stated she did not have her driver’s license with her but gave the deputy a fake name and birthdate. The deputy tried to run the information given to him by Cantrell but no records were found under the name she gave the deputy. The deputy asked Cantrell if she might be listed by another name and she stuck with the information she gave the deputy.
At this point Cantrell was asked if she had anything illegal in the vehicle. Cantrell gave consent for her vehicle to be searched. Inside the vehicle the deputy found a baggie of meth and a glass pipe with burnt residue on it.

Cantrell was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. Once at the jail Cantrell finally told what her real name and birthdate was. A check of her real name showed that her driver’s license was suspended and that she had drug related warrants out of Cross County. Cross County was then contacted and a hold was placed on Cantrell out of Cross County.

A Circuit Court date of January 3rd was issued for Cantrell for Lawrence County.
