Hoxie Man Steals Vehicle After Wreck and is Arrested By LCSO

On November 12, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Timothy Starling ,age 38, of Hoxie for DWI, theft of property, leaving the scene of an accident, driving on suspended driver’s license, careless driving and failure to maintain control.

The arrest came after Lawrence County Deputies were dispatched to an accident on County Road 511. Deputies arrived on the scene to find a green Ford Explorer had left the roadway and had taken out a large section of fence. The airbags had deployed on the vehicle and no one was around the vehicle. A quick check of the vehicle tags came back to Starling and an address not far from the
accident .

Deputies went to the residence and found Starling along with another vehicle. Starling told deputies that he had been drinking whiskey and had an accident. Starling then told deputies that he had stolen a vehicle close to the accident scene to get home in.

A check of Starling’s driver’s license showed that it was suspended for a prior DWI.

Starling was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.

The owner of the stolen vehicle was contacted and the vehicle was returned.
