At 12:27 pm on Wednesday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a wreck on Hwy 25 with injuries. The Lynn Fire Department, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and AET Ambulance were all notified.
Officers arrived in the area of Old Lebanon Cemetery on Hwy 25 to find an overturned trailer and a 3-wheeled motorcycle overturned in the ditch, officers then learned that the motor home that had been pulling the trailer was located south of Lynn at a residence approximately 4 to 5 miles from the initial scene.
The driver of the motor home was flown to Methodist Hospital in Jonesboro, suffering from seizures and chest pains. A Female passenger was transported to White River Medical Center in Batesville with what was described as non-life threatening injuries. According to reports, the female passenger was in the bedroom of the motor home when the accident occurred.
The motor home had left Lake Charles State Park, as it traveled around the curve south of Old Lebanon Cemetery, the vehicle ran off the right shoulder of the road striking a highway sign before reentering the highway, at that time the trailer that was hauling the motorcycle became disconnected from the motor home, flipping the trailer and losing it’s cargo. For unknown reasons, the driver did not stop and continued for several miles before stopping the damaged RV.
The accident was investigated by the Arkansas State Police.
Investigators from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s CID along with Independence County Investigators assistance are looking into a possible assault that allegedly took place on Tuesday September 17th.
A victim in an accident on Hwy 25 Wednesday was transported to White River Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, once at the hospital doctors and nurses discovered bruises and injuries not consistent with the accident. The victim was questioned and told the staff that while staying at Lake Charles State Park she was beaten by her male companion.
The hospital then notified the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation was started. According to hospital staff, the female confirmed to doctors that she had indeed been assaulted while staying in the motor home at the park. Investigators from Lawrence County contacted investigators from Independence County for assistance with victim photos.
According to reports, the victim has since been transported from White River Medical Center to Jonesboro for further treatment of her injuries. The investigation is still ongoing, names of the suspect and victim have not been released by Sheriff Dotson at this time.
