The 4th Annual Sloan-Hendrix Invitational at Davidsonville State Park was held September 24th with 18 schools represented and 348 athletes crossing the finish line. In team standings; in the Jr. Girls division, Heber Spring took 1st, with Batesville as Runner-up. Sloan-Hendrix finished 7th. In Jr. Boys, Heber Spring also took 1st with Batesville runner-up as Sloan-Hendrix finished 5th. In Sr. Girls, Melbourne took 1st with Heber Springs coming in 2nd, Sloan-Hendrix didn’t have enough to tally team points. Finally in Sr. Boys action, Valley View narrowly held off Heber Springs for the team title, with Sloan-Hendrix finishing 8th.

In individual action, Logan McCain continued his streak of finishing in the Top Ten with a 9th Place Medal. “Logan is running each race determined to get better and improving his time. I am proud of how he is competing” said Coach Grisham. Not far behind was Tyler Murphy in 15th place who was only 10 seconds from a Top Ten finish. Rounding out the top Greyhound finishers was Hunter Stallings 41st and Jordan Dail 42nd.

In Jr. Girls, Brenda McCain paced the Lady Greyhounds with a 25th place finish and Maddyson Lamb finished 44th. In the Sr. Girls race, Jessie Powell ran a season best time to finish 23rd with Hannah Griffin 43rd and Ashlyn Hayes in 44th place, each also running their personal best. Finally in Sr. Boys action, Nathan DeShazo 62nd and Zack Anderson 64th paced the Greyhounds. Next was Paul Hein 77th who ran his all time personal best.

Next up for the Runnin’ Hounds is the GCT Invitational at Crowley’s Ridge College on Oct. 3 and then at Salem on Oct. 8.
