Lawrence County investigators were on the scene at the Spring River boat launch in Imboden today to investigate a tragic accident. An elderly couple were backing their vehicle with boat attached into the water. When the male exited the vehicle the truck, boat, and trailer rolled into the water. The female passenger was able to escape the vehicle but drowned before she reached the bank.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s office released the victims name after the family was notified. The victim was identified as Alta Simington, date of birth 1/23/1935.
