Gourds: The Versatile Plant: Beginner’s Gourdcrafting Workshop

September 14  10 am – 2 pm

Registration Fee: $20

Gourds have been used for centuries for a variety of artistic and functional purposes.  This exciting workshop will show you how to decorate and shape these versatile and unusual plants.  Fee includes all materials and tools. Songs of the Civil War

Join us for a very special musical telling of the Civil War through the songs that reflected this period of strife. Enjoy tapping your toes to upbeat tunes and feel the citizens’  suffering through the sad songs. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend. Historic Games Day

When was the last time you played croquet, jumped a potato sack race, or played marbles?  Join the staff at Powhatan Historic State Park to play these games and enjoy the day with us.  In partnership with Take a Child Outside Week, the park will have booths featuring games played by all ages from the Victorian Era to today.  Some of the games offered to play include old-fashioned sack races, croquet, graces, marbles, jump rope, jacks, yo-yos, checkers, horseshoes, and more.  So bring your family, a picnic lunch, some lawn chairs, and spend the day enjoying a little bit of Yesteryear!
