Friday, June 21st the Sharp County Dispatch received a 911 call from a woman claiming to be in a vehicle with a man driving erratic and acting irrational according to a statement from Sharp County Sheriff Mark Counts. The woman claimed she exited the vehicle, deputies and Cave City Police responded to a gravel pit when the vehicle was located.

Upon arriving, law enforcement officers discovered Christopher Farris unresponsive in the vehicle, officers immediately began CPR and called for an ambulance from Spring River Ambulance. According to reports, lifesaving measures were stopped after ambulance personnel spoke with an emergency room physician at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Farris was pronounced dead at the scene by Sharp County Coroner Doug Wortham. The body has since been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. The Arkansas State Police is assisting the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
