An early morning accident involving an overturned semi hauling an estimated 4,000  chickens has Hwy 115 closed at this hour. The semi lost control and overturned  spilling chickens all over the road, killing some.
The driver of the truck was transported to Lawrence Memorial  Hospital for treatment of injuries by AET Ambulance of Imboden. The Imboden  Volunteer Fire Department and Smithville Volunteer Fire Department are on scene dealing with the wreckage of the truck  and a fuel spill in the highway. A Hazmat unit from the Walnut Ridge Fire Department is on scene as well assisting with the fuel spill, along with Lawrence County OES Director Creston Hutton.
Officers from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State  Police and Arkansas Highway Police have closed both lanes of Hwy 115. Workers  from the trucking company are on scene as well attempted to capture the hundreds  of chickens still running around the area of the accident. Officials from the Livestock and Poultry Commission are on scene overseeing the recovery of the live and deceased animals.
The accident is being investigated by the Arkansas State  Police.
