Around 5:40 pm the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a possible body on the Black River, Sheriff Jody Dotson accompanied by deputies and members of the LCSO Dive Team were escorted to a location about 1 mile downstream from the Old Davidsonville State Park Boat Ramp by a local fisherman.

Once on scene, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office notified Sheriff Tribble of Randolph County that a confirmed body of a female was located on the county line in the Black River. Members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office along with Sheriff Tribble and several Officers from the Arkansas State Parks and Arkansas Game and Fish met with the boat containing officers from Lawrence County. The body, partially submerged was recovered and transported back to the boat ramp where the Lawrence County Coroner took possession of the body.

In his official statement, Sheriff Dotson stated that positive identity of the body may take several days and at this time all that is known is it’s a deceased female. Sheriff Dotson went on to give thanks to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Parks and Arkansas Game and Fish for their cooperation in recovering the body.
