On May 16, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Amanda Ball (27) of Powhatan on charges of possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, fictitious tags and defective equipment. The arrest came after a deputy stopped the vehicle Ball was driving near Hoxie for traffic violations. The deputy asked Ball for her driver’s license and proof of insurance. Ball informed the deputy that she did not have insurance on the vehicle. The deputy then ran the license plate and it did not come back to the vehicle. The deputy asked Ball if she had any illegal items in the vehicle and she told the deputy he could look. Inside the vehicle the deputy found a case containing a syringe, a glass smoking pipe and a plastic baggie containing meth. Ball was placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
