On May 10th, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Bill McCurley Gymnasium Sloan-Hendrix High School Graduation was held.
Sloan-Hendrix Honor Graduates were announced by Sloan-Hendrix Principal, Clifford Rorex, and given recognition of their achievements.
Co-valedictorians Kara DeShazo and Bobby Powell as well as Salutatorian Alexis Kulick gave the Salutatorian and Valdictorian addresses to the crowd of peers, teachers, family and friends who gathered to celebrate the Class of 2013 graduation.
Awards, Honors, and Scholarships were also announced by Mr. Rorex. Over 1.26 million dollars in scholarships were awarded to the Class of 2013 which is a record number of money awarded to Sloan-Hendrix graduates.
Other honor graduates included: Emily Bilbrey, Rebekah Swink, Eunita Ames,and Samantha Honeycutt.
Maigen Rogers, Demi Stephens,and Robin Buckwalter.
Austin Gelsinger, Megan Welch, Sara Bowers, Madicyn Huddleston, Winston Clifton.
Nicole Lewis, Ashley Ward, Meghan Griffin, Shayla Dickson, and Joshlyn Flanery.
The presentation of diplomas to the 57 graduates followed.
Superintendent Mitch Walton spoke words of encouragement to the graduates.
In closing the smiles and cheers of the crowd when the graduates tossed their caps in the air was the highlight of the evening.
