Restoring Powhatan: Origins of a State Park

The theme of this year’s Arkansas Heritage Month is “Saving Our Heritage: Arkansas’s Historic Structures.” Come celebrate with us by taking a special, behind-the-scenes tour of five of these historic structures. You’ll learn about the development and decline of a steamboat town and discover the fascinating story of how these buildings were saved and painstakingly preserved.

If you have always wanted to discover your ancestors, then you are invited to Powhatan Historic State Park’s Genealogy Workshop. Topics covered will include oral history, using archival records and the internet, and preserving family keepsakes. This workshop is appropriate for both beginner and intermediate genealogists, and participants are encouraged to bring their research.
