On January 21, 2013 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Trenton Hoyer (12/15/75) of Paragould on charges of theft by deception. The charges stem from a Portia area farmer reporting that he had purchased farm equipment from Hoyer valued at $20,000 on December 04, 2012. Hoyer did not deliver the equipment and wrote the farmer a check for $20,000 as reimbursement. The check turned out to be on a closed account. Hoyer was contacted on several occasions to make good on the check but never did. The Sheriff’s Office Investigators contacted the Arkansas State Police, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. Hoyer had been running similar schemes in the surrounding counties. Information gathered was used to obtain a warrant for Hoyer.

If you have had any business dealings with Hoyer you should contact your local Sheriff’s Office to make sure any items purchased are not stolen. Bond was set at $30,000 and a Circuit Court date of February 07 was issued.
