On Monday, a 14 year old student arrived by bus to the Pocahontas High School carrying a replica non-firing pistol according to Pocahontas Police. Students reported to school authorities that the student hada gun on the bus, school officials detained the 14 year old who’s name has not been released and discovered the fake weapon. Pocahontas Police were dispatched to the school where the suspect was arrested and taken to jail.
Pocahontas Police Chief Cecil Tackett has announced that an officer will be posted at the school for the remainder of the school year. Officers described the fake weapon as very realistic looking. The investigation is ongoing at this time, no motive was released.
The 14 year old faces several felony charges for the incident. Tackett stated the student was possibly on probation and had a juvenile record. Formal charges and hearing dates have not been released at this time.
