At 11:45 am Sunday, the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department, AETÂ Ambulance of Imboden, Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office and Ravenden PoliceÂ Department were called to 345 South 2nd Street in Ravenden to what is beingÂ described by witnesses as a self inflicted gun shot wound.
The Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department was on scene in minutes andÂ immediately called for an air unit. Air-Evac was dispatched to the scene by theÂ Lawrence County Dispatch. Firefighters from Ravenden set up a landing zone in aÂ vacant lot directly across from the Ravenden Fire Department.
Medics from AET and members of the Ravenden Fire Department loadedÂ the victim and transported to the landing zone, once Air-Evac was on scene theÂ patient was loaded on the helicopter and taken to an area hospital. The victimÂ was reported to be breathing but in critical condition with a gunshot wound toÂ the head according to witnesses.
The incident is being investigated by the Ravenden PoliceÂ Department and Lawrence County Sheriffâ€™s Office CID. The victims name has notÂ been released at this time.
