At 11:45 am Sunday, the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department, AET  Ambulance of Imboden, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Ravenden Police  Department were called to 345 South 2nd Street in Ravenden to what is being  described by witnesses as a self inflicted gun shot wound.
The Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department was on scene in minutes and  immediately called for an air unit. Air-Evac was dispatched to the scene by the  Lawrence County Dispatch. Firefighters from Ravenden set up a landing zone in a  vacant lot directly across from the Ravenden Fire Department.
Medics from AET and members of the Ravenden Fire Department loaded  the victim and transported to the landing zone, once Air-Evac was on scene the  patient was loaded on the helicopter and taken to an area hospital. The victim  was reported to be breathing but in critical condition with a gunshot wound to  the head according to witnesses.
The incident is being investigated by the Ravenden Police  Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office CID. The victims name has not  been released at this time.
