On October 11, 2012 the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a residence in Strawberry about a large amount of stolen property. Deputies responded and began an investigation into the stolen property. At the time the deputies did not know who the property belonged to only that it appeared to be stolen. Items included several guns, tools, ammunition and a hunting bow. Deputies back tracked the items to a residence in Strawberry and the owner was contacted. The owner was on their way in from work and was not aware of the break in. The owner was able to confirm the property was theirs and found that several other items were missing, including electronics, some other guns, jewelry and cash. In the initial stash of property deputies found items that lead to Donavan Jones of the Lynn area as being a suspect. Deputies than began looking for Jones and found witnesses to Jones being in possession of some of the items. Deputies also tracked Jones to a residence outside Lynn and recovered several other items from the burglary. Jones had just left the residence before deputies arrived. A witness stated that they saw Jones with a small handgun. A Ruger 380 caliber gun is still missing from the burglary. Jones has a lengthy criminal history for theft, drugs and reckless homicide. Jones is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees Jones should call 911 immediately and not approach him. A warrant has been obtained for Jones for the burglary and theft. Jones is a dark skinned white male with brown eyes, short black hair 6ft tall and weighs about 170lbs. Again please call the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office at 870-886-2525 or 911 if spotted.
