Imboden Native Stan Witt Appointed As Director Of The Arkansas State Police
 
With the retirement of Col. JR Howard slated for the end of this month, Gov. Mike Beebe has announced the appointment of longtime State Trooper and Imboden native Stan Witt as Director of the Arkansas State Police.
 
 Witt, a Sloan Hendrix Graduate, former Walnut Ridge Police Officer, Former Lawrence County Deputy and later the Lawrence County Sheriff began his career with the Arkansas State Police in 1985 in Sharp County.
 
The official transition of leadership is expected to occur on Friday according to the Arkansas State Police.
 
The retiring Col. JR Howard was commissioned by the Arkansas State Police in 1971.
