Shortly after 2 pm on Wednesday, the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department was paged to a brush fire at 50 Lawrence 139. Ravenden requested Smithville and Imboden to assist.

 

Firefighters worked for over an hour containing the blaze. Ravenden responded with multiple trucks as did the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department.

 

At 4:30 pm a Smithville firefighter reported to the Lawrence County that the wind had rekindled the fire and a mobile home was completely engulfed along with a power pole. Ravenden and Smithville were once again paged, Ravenden responded with two trucks to the rekindled blaze.

 

Ravenden requested that Imboden be paged for assistance. Imboden was in route at 4:38 pm. Rescue 3 and Rescue 4 from Imboden responded to the fire. Craighead Electric was contacted by the Lawrence County Dispatch to respond to the area.

 

The residence was reported to belong to Mike Swartz according to fire officials.
