At 12:54 pm on Wednesday, the Lawrence County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a north bound semi truck carrying large bales of hay on fire at the railroad crossing on Hwy 63 in Ravenden.

Ravenden firefighters arrived on scene, reporting the rear bales of hay on the trailer were on fire. Ravenden requested an engine and firefighters from the Imboden Fire Department to respond for assistance.

Firefighters used a tractor to remove the burning hay from the semi truck, all the while firefighters were attempting to extinguish the fire. Once the engine from Imboden was on scene, Hwy 63 was completely closed while the hay was removed from the trailer and the semi removed from the scene.

Units from Ravenden were called back to the roadside where the fire was earlier at 4:12 pm, 911 calls reported the hay had flared back up and was burning again.
